Life on two wheels and surviving the roads – The continental ultra sport tyre is a well-established all around tire with responsive handling and make it a favorite tire amongst road cyclist. The PureGrip technology speaks for itself and ensures you have great grip under all conditions plus also long-lasting and highly durable tire.
What are the continental conti sport tires used for ?
These continental bike tyres are used for Gand Tour, Tour and Race which makes them a favorite of many cyclists including myself. I value these tires because my life literally depends on them and this is one area I recommend you don’t compromise on to survive on those long rides.
Over the past few years I’ve tried many bike tires on the market and some have been literally scary experiences and crashes that have led me to value to importance of a good road bike tire and the reason you should take a good look at them yourself.
I just bought my second set and plan on using them on my next trip to Thailand. Love riding there, all the roads are amazingly smooth. My bike is a Felt Z75 endurance bike and love it, and put almost 20,000 kilometers on it. I use 700x25c the continental ultra sport ii tire on my bike mostly for training and long rides.
Here on the right I am on one of those long rides in Thailand with friends, rode 94km’s and over 1600 meters elevation. Had a great ride and awesome time with friends.
You’ll also enjoy the smoothness of the ride, the rolling resistance is great and last quite a while. I put almost 6,000 km’s on my first set and changed them after a crash plus had to change my rims too.
Continental Ultra Sport ii 700x25c TrueGrip Technology
Initially this tire was developed for performance but after an extensive research and it was discovered that an advanced new compound with outstanding grip and cross-country properties was developed. The new rubber mix compound is being used for both the road bike and mountain bikes giving riders a competitive edge.
Not only does this tire give you great grip on the road but it is also built to longevity and durability. When you get your first pair you will understand my excitement when I discuss this tire because I own them and have used Continental tires for a few years now.
What I can tell you is that I’ve always had a great experience with these tires and rely on them on those extra long rides. The only thing I do besides inspect them before every ride is check the air pressure and they seem to maintain good pressure unless a leak of course but never had one besides a puncture on the road once.
Continental bicycle tires – Are they worth it ?
Well, having used three types of continental bicycle tires I use these continental ultra sport ii 700x25c at 75 psi in front and 90 psi in rear tire of my bike. This seems to work well for my set up, your set up may be different and you might like a little stiffer for a racing event, I like comfort.
They wear very well since I usually average about 300+ kilometers a week sometimes more and do climb a lot of hills too which give me security and feeling of reliability around sharp bends descending 50+ Km’s per hour which is the reason I purchased these tires because my previous tires I almost lost it on a downhill and that was not fun at all and don’t know how I even saved myself from eating some side of a mountain at 30+ km’s per hour.
So survival on two wheels depends greatly on the quality of the tire, the construction, the compound used, the durability, grip and reliable feeling you get when having them on your bike. My experience has been great and would recommend these continental ultra sport tires to anyone wanting a great set of road bike tires.
If you want a good tire you will pay upwards of 30 USD and for most really good tires 60+ USD. I have also used the continental grand prix 4000s ii which I mainly use if I ride an event but great value for the money and great tires as well.
